Flotsam & Whimsy

www.flotsamandwhimsy.net

When I was downsized from a corporate art director job I decided that I wanted to sell something I made with my own hands, so I learned to wire-wrap, starting with sea glass and shell pendants, hence my company name, a play on “flotsam and jetsam” which is the stuff that washes up on beaches. Some of the glass that I use in my pieces is left over from stained glass projects or scrap glass that I’ve tumbled to soften it to a faux sea glass. (I’m very careful to label what is real beach glass and what is tumbled to avoid confusion.)

In the last year or so, I have been upgrading my materials to include silver wire and gemstones, but I like to keep the whimsy that has always been a hallmark of my work.

Stonehill Design

I grew up around people who worked with their hands. My grandfather owned a tool and die shop which eventually evolved in my father’s business, Advance Heat Treating Co. in Fairfield, CT. I was always fascinated by the amazing machines they had in the shop, like the Bridgeport Milling Machine, a relic we still have to this day, the hardening furnaces from the 40s that would glow white hot when they were opened, and the massive compressor that was always rumbling away in the background. These men, using these tools were able to provide for 3 generations of our family. They instilled in me an appreciation for quality workmanship and a respect for the time it takes to do something yourself. With that in mind, started my business to get back to that tradition of earning a living by making something with my own two hands. It has given me an opportunity to focus my creativity, the end product of which is my collection of rustic and industrial lighting and decor, designed and fabricated in my home workshop. I strive to create unique, high-quality lighting and timeless designs.

Wit Brothers Photographic Arts

Mark Champion and Rod Salisbury are the Wit Brothers. Friends for over 45 years, they both developed a love and passion for photography starting in their early 20’s with 35mm film. In recent years, this passion grew to where they decided to offer their captures to the public. A number of local and extended nationwide road trips have expanded their image library with many diverse pictures. More trips are planned for the near and distant future to further fill out their portfolios.

Dawn Hill Designs

www.DawnHillDesigns.com

I am an artist that creates a variety of items by using some found and re-purposed items along with new and vintage findings to create one of a kind pieces. I also use new items that are all hand crafted in my Torrington, CT studio from supplies acquired from around the world. I use these items to create jewelry (Circlets, headpieces, lockets, watches, necklaces, anklets, bracelets, earrings, etc.), home decor (suncatchers, scissor fobs & needle keepers, book marks) and gemstone pendulums.

Tara Tomaselli Photography

www.tomaselliphoto.com

Tara Tomaselli is a fine art photographer based in Connecticut. Themes depicted in her images include: coastal towns and imagery, transportation, mechanical objects and rust. Coastal towns (particularly in New England) have inspired Tomaselli to capture and preserve many beautiful moments and images. From seashells to seascapes, buoys to boats, and a variety of weathered architecture, she is drawn to the vibrant colors and captivating greys. Transportation-themed images emphasize the color and texture of rust with muted colors left from old paint. Photographing these objects up close draw attention to the simple shapes, lines and patterns represented in common objects forgotten or abandoned. Photographs are available in a variety of sizes, matted or framed.

Look and Sea Home Decor

A love for the ocean clearly is reflected in Look and Sea designs. Each little sailboat glass art piece tells a story; it’s either a family of sailboats happily floating out at sea, or a group of sailboats watching the Forth of July fireworks on the water.
