Opening reception and sale, Thursday, October 17, 5:30 – 8:00 PM
For this show, you are challenged to rethink how you look at landscapes. For example, consider the perspective of an ant or giraffe as they view a scene.
Try focusing your view by looking at the ground near your feet, or straight up through the branches and canopy of the trees.
Realism or abstract; all styles encouraged.
Submission Instructions and Guidelines
Electronic submission deadline is Friday, October 4 at 11:59 PM. (preferred)
Walk-in submission deadline is Saturday, October 5 at 12:00 PM.
All art, whether submitted online or in person, must be delivered to the second floor of the Milford Arts Council at 40 Railroad Ave S, Milford, CT because the Firehouse Gallery will not be available for drop off during the submission times. (There will be another show in the gallery.) Artwork will be transported to the Firehouse Gallery in time for the show. Drop off times are:
Friday, October 4, 4:00 – 6:00 PM
Saturday, October 5, 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Even if you completed the online submission form, you will be asked to fill out a paper submission form and label(s). Save time and download and complete the submission form and labels here.
One or two original, 2- or 3-dimensional artwork(s) accepted, any medium
2-dimensional works MUST BE securely wired for hanging or they cannot be accepted for this show, no exceptions.
Work must be recent (two to five years old) and NOT previously exhibited at the MAC main gallery or at the Firehouse Gallery.
24″ x 36″ maximum 2D size (including frame)
$25 for one, or $35 for two
Members of MAC & CAGCT get a $5 discount off the total fee

There are no refunds on submission fees.
Submission Review and Acceptance of Artwork
All work received electronically will be reviewed by an adjudication jury who will evaluate the work based on how it interprets the prospectus, its execution and quality.
Walk-in submissions will be adjudicated following the close of submissions, Saturday, October 5. Artists who submit electronically and are not selected by the jury will be notified before Friday, October 4
Only artists who are not selected will be contacted. If you are not contacted regarding the jury’s decision, you were accepted.
Works not selected by the jury must be picked up at the Milford Arts Council, 40 Railroad Ave in Milford between Tuesday, October 8 – 11 between 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
Artist pick up
Artwork can be picked up on Sunday, November 10 between 12:00 – 4:00 PM at the Firehouse Gallery, 81 Naugatuck Ave, Milford.
Artwork not picked up within 7 days of November 10 will become the property of MAC. If you can’t come to the Firehouse Gallery on November 10, please contact the Milford Arts Council at 203-878-6647 to arrange pickup of your artwork.
Cathy Liontas is a Milford artist who paints in oils, watercolor, pastels and acrylics. She can often be seen around Milford capturing the morning light on marshes, ponds or other coastal spots.
She is a member of the Milford Arts Council and teaches painting classes through the Adult Ed. Program.
She recently was commissioned to paint a 5ft.x8ft urban scene mural for Life Haven in New Haven CT.
In 2018 she won the Bronze Award in the Cape Anne Plein Aire Quick Draw Competition and third place for MAC’s Waterscapes show. In 2017 she received the People’s Choice Award for the Middlebury Land Trust Plein Aire paint out.
Cathy taught Art Education in the Milford Public School system for seventeen years and retired early to pursue her passion of painting full time.
